Subject: ping me detection ?
HI all,
Is it possible to find out when my machine is being pinged. I suppose it
is but is the ping return a function of the winsock.dll or what. I would kind
of like to know when I am being pinged and by whom.
Cheers,
Gerrit.

Subject: Latest Version of Some Software
Hey, I was wondering what is the latest version of Trumpet Winsock.
Also are there any other programs that you can dial up from Windows.
That should just about cover it. If I have any other questions, I will post
them. Thanks alot.

Do you hafve your dns setup correctly. A local machine may be locatable easy
whereas a more remote machine may be available wihtout a good dns server
available to you.
I just tried to connect to gopher.msc.com and had little dificulty ( none ).
If you can ping it you sould be able to gopher to it.
btw the ip address of gopher.mcs.com is192.160.127.80, ypou could type this
in your bookmark entry.
Cheers,
Gerrit

You might want to look at the values for your MTU, TCP RWIN, and TCP
MSS. These are in setup, under the file menu. The documentation has
"suggestion" values. Make sure the values coincide(from the
documentation). The docs also make suggestions between SLIP and
Compressed SLIP. The default vallues are probably too high. I use a
14400 modem with a CSLIP connection. These are my settings:
MTU=296
TCP RWIN=1024
TCP MSS=256
I also have my baud rate under setup set to 38400.
I'm no expert, but maybe this will help

Using the version 1.1.5 on src.doc.ic.ac.uk instead of the version with mosaic
